Use of Facilities and Grounds Our schools are experiencing a level of use of athletic facilities that is causing a significant drain on the District and school's maintenance budgets. Worn down turf areas eventually need to be replaced if proper drainage and safe surfaces are to be maintained. Both our main campuses at El Molino and Analy also experience breakage and damage of support structures, bleachers, fences, gates and sprinkler systems due to heavy use. Classrooms and cafeterias are also areas often used by community partners. In recent years utility rates have skyrocketed for us all. As a result the District instituted an energy surcharge. After hours or weekend use also results in custodians having to be present. Wages and benefits to our employees are climbing even as the state cuts back on school funding. As a result the Board of Education and District staff has been involved in a review of facility use fees for groups and individuals wishing to use school facilities. Current rates increased effective July 1, 2004 for the 2004-05 school year. For your convenience you may access the necessary documents through our website. It is important to note that payment for facility use is now to be made through the West Sonoma County Union High School District Office. Agreements are no longer made with the local school site regarding payment. Payments for District and school site operations to include utilities, wages and benefits are made through the District budget not a school site collection. Checks are to be made out to the West Sonoma County Union High School District. Applications for facility use may be secured through school site administrative offices and returned to the District Office, 462 Johnson Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472. If you have any questions regarding the process or facility fees please contact our District office at 824-6409. |
